I got a little chuckle out of some of the comments in the previous "Hair" post regarding the little story arc about Maeve's ex-husband temporarily moving in her because he lost his job. (You can read this week's series by clicking on the widget in the top right corner of my blog. The beginning of the story arc began April 13th. You can access those strips for one month from that date)
"- I hope Maeve's ex won't be around for long, he is definitely irritating.
It's so interesting to see Maeve at a loss, though! When she was supporting Tamara, she had lots of good ideas and advice on how to stand up to Jake; it's almost as if now Maeve needs someone to remind her of her own advice."
When I think of Maeve and Simon's relationship, I always have Carla and her ex-husband, Nick Tortelli from the television show, "Cheers" in the back of my mind. As much as Carla wants to stay away from Nick, she's powerless to his "charms". There's some major sexual attraction going on and Nick definitely knows it.
I don't see Simon as being as manipulative as Nick Tortelli but he knows he can get around Maeve. On the flip side, Maeve will go to Simon for moral support and advice in certain situations because she knows he still cares about her. In fact, I think they both love each other. Their personalities just won't allow them to live together.
But there's that passion between them that won't go away...
As for this story arc, it's not going away just yet either. Actually, I gotta go draw some Maeve/Simon strips right now.
