So I'm having my coffee and checking out all my online coffee-time haunts...and while reading my own comic at Comics Kingdom at the Toronto Star...it hits me. I GOTTA do something about Maeve's hair. I think it's about time for a little make-over. If I can break my Maeve-drawing habit that is...
That's Tom Racine in the photo. He's hosts the podcast, Tall Tale Radio. Every week, a new cartoonist...strippers, animators, web comic cartoonists...you name it. He's a great interviewer because he's so knowledgeable about the business and his podcast always makes my photoshopping zip along. He's been delving into some video interviews too. If you're interested in the behind-the-scenes stuff, definitely check out his site!
I know I've been ignoring this blog as of late...but I have been busy doing STUFF. And very shortly I'm leaving for the Caribbean with my family...and you know what that means...I'm in overdrive doing extra comics.
So, for the next few days I thought I'd introduce you to some of the podcasts I like to listen to while I'm photoshopping.
First up is Laydeez do Comics. I stumbled across Laydeez do Comics while I was poking around the web looking for women cartoonists. Laydeez do Comics is a monthly graphic novel forum organized by Sarah Lightman and Nicola Streeten in the UK. Sarah curated Graphic Details: Confessional Comics by Jewish Women and I got the chance to meet her and have lunch last February when the show opened in Toronto. I've also corresponded with Nicola who is releasing her graphic memoir, Billy, Me and You...about coping after the death of her two year old son, Billy. She sent me a snippet of it and it was powerful.
