It's going to be 27 degrees here today. That's 27 degrees CELSIUS for those of you of the Fahrenheit persuasion. And that means HOT. Geeeeez...the shorts season always seems to come up out of nowhere...
Confession: I know I haven't been posting very much the past little while. It's not that I've been any busier than usual...in fact, now that my university course is finished (and I've completed a few speaking presentations that I was scheduled for last month)...things have actually slowed down. I am working on a few extra out-of-the-ordinary Between Friends things but I'm not under real deadline pressure with them.
As such, I'm not really getting much of anything done at the moment. It's like I was running on a treadmill from January to May and all of a sudden it's stopped and I'm kind of in lethargic-mode.
Although, I DID clean out my tupperware cupboard last week. It's not really full of tupperware but that's what I call it. I recycled a gazillion plastic margarine containers, old water bottles from when my son played soccer back in...oh...maybe grade 4...little plastic containers for my kids' juice at lunch in grade school...containers with lids that have lost their tight seal...and other useless things that have been taking up space for no practical reason at all.
That cupboard is now organized and clean. And my electric frying pan now has its own little place where it can be put away when not in use. This thrills me. Call me boring, call me pathetic...I am a happy woman. A happy woman who is feeling a little lethargic and distracted lately.
It's June next week so I'm planning to shake this mood and get a little more productive. And hopefully write more interesting posts than this one.
What? It's May 9th? Where did those last few weeks go?
I'll be getting back on track this week...but here's some recaps or updates from the last few weeks...
I did a few presentations. One was out of town for a lively, fun group of women and the other was the Mother's Day program for Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre. I had a great time at both.
Can I throw this in?...I got 75% on my university course. I'd like to propose a course of my own for the next step of my finish-my-degree quest and I have an idea of what I'd like to do. I'm just not sure when I want to try and fit it into my schedule. When I was telling Tim about it at the dinner table last week, my daughter looked at me with her eyes bugged out and her mouth all agape and gasped..."You're going to take ANOTHER course?!!!" Obviously, I wasn't the only one who was stressed during my university foray.
I spent two nights in Toronto and attended TCAF. (Toronto Comic Arts Festival) This was my first time attending and I really enjoyed it. I only managed to attend one panel and I found it a little difficult to hear. Next time I'll line up earlier and get closer to the panelists. There were a lot of panels I would have liked to attend but didn't have the time because I didn't want to rush. (I don't mean the TCAF program was rushed...I just mean I wanted to meander around.) I drove into Toronto Friday night and met up with my friend Deborah Peyton. We went for a late dinner and then had a leisurely morning and went for a late breakfast at Fran's. Then we went to TCAF for the afternoon. I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked but did manage to connect with some friends like John Martz, Rina Piccolo...and I saw Jay Stephens from a distance while he was doing a program for some kids. Unfortunately, I didn't get to actually say hello...but hey Jay! That was me waving from the background! Rina, Deb, me and the wonderful Patricia Storms went for dinner at the Duke of York. So much fun! So much laughing and some great shop talk! I don't do this type of thing enough. I'm taking today off to putter around here at home...but I've already jotted down three strip ideas. What a difference a little break and change of scenery does for your frame of mind!
Anyway, I was home Sunday afternoon to spend the rest of the day with mom and my family. It was a great weekend.
A belated Happy Mother's Day to all the moms who are reading!!!
