Remember the mouse trap that Tim set last week that disappeared? And how we set another trap?
Well...finally, we caught a mouse in the trap. Notice I said "a" mouse and not "the" mouse.
A little later in the morning, Tim called me into the room where the mouse was caught.
"I think I hear something behind those boxes." Neither of us wanted to look because we were afraid of what we were going to find. The disappearing mouse trap...which had to be attached to a mouse...had been missing for about 4 days at this point.
Anyway, we moved the boxes and sure enough, there was the mouse with the attached trap. He had chewed the edges of the baseboard and he was definitely dead. (I don't know what Tim heard...his imagination was getting the better of him over this vanished mouse trap or there was yet another mouse messing around behind those boxes)
The trap had only caught the mouse by the tip of his tail. There's an opening at the bottom of the baseboard where he was obviously trying to get to but the trap had hooked on something and he couldn't move.
We both felt kind of bad about that. But neither of us would have wanted to find him alive while he was trapped there. I think I would have let him go rather than killed it myself. And letting him go outside means he'd just find his way back inside...and of course, then we'd be at square one.
(Three posts about mice on a cartoon blog...do I digress or what?)
We're going to continue to set traps because we're convinced there have to be more. Lovely, huh?
I promise the next post will be cartoon-related!
