New Year / New YOU!

I've noticed some of the blogs I enjoy visiting are posting year-end reviews.  I thought about doing that but it would mean I would have to think . . . and I'm too busy enjoying the holidays. I also thought I might post some of my own personal resolutions for the coming year . . . but that would mean embarassing myself when I break them down the road, like say - oh. . . by maybe next Tuesday. So, I decided to post something one of my friends sent me because it made me laugh.  And I figure that's about the best way I can think  of to start  the New Year.   I wish you health, happiness and laughter in 2009. HAPPY NEW YEAR! I did it.  I stayed up until 3 in the morning to finish the screening on my strips but I did it.  I will work on December 29 but other than that, I'm free until the kids go back to school!

Countdown...almost there...

  I was just screening some of my upcoming strips and as I was dropping in the shading on Helen's face in the snippet to the left, it just hit me how much I love my job.  Deadlines and all.

Today and tomorrow is VERY FULL with drawing, inking and computering (writing is all complete! YAY!) and then I will have the rest of this week and all next week off!  Except for one day of my choosing where I will need to work on that something special I'm going to tell you about next month.

I may even clean and putter around and organize my studio.    Putter time . . . oh, what a luxury . . .  back to work!

 

You know those Christmas seasons where things just seem to keep coming and coming and WHAM! . . . it's Christmas and you're not really . . .ready?  Oh, you do?  Good.  Then you'll understand why posts have been sparse the last little while.

I'm getting some really, really deadliney stuff finished up this morning as soon as I can and then I'm taking the rest of the day off.  I'm going to finish putting up decorations and then when the kids get home from school, my family is heading to the beautiful little town of Niagara-on-the-Lake to buy our annual Christmas decoration from the "Just Christmas" store.  Tim and I have been buying an ornament to represent our year since we were first married.  When the kids were born, we changed that to letting them choose an ornament each.  When they are grown and off on their own and seem like they're settled, I'm going to give each of them their ornaments (dated each year with permanent ink) as a gift from their childhood.  After the shopping, we'll head out somewhere for dinner.  Maybe this year we'll go to the Angel Inn.  It's a little English Pub-type establishment that's suppposed to be haunted by the ghost of Captain Swayze, a soldier who was accidentally killed during the War of 1812. 

Back to the drawing board . . .

Here We go Again . . .

 

It's December . . . again? . . . ALREADY?

It doesn't seem to matter how I time things . . . things just seem to "happen" and life always gets crunched when the holidays arrive as I try to work it out so I'll get some time off.  Last year, I tried for two weeks . . . I think I got one.   I'm not even going to set any expectations this year.  I'm just going to keep my nose to the grindstone and work.  We'll see how it goes . . . 

This week, I'm planning on writing four sundays, one week of dailies and one rough week of dailies.

 . . . and put up Christmas decorations, clean out the family room, have ten girls over to spend the night for my daughter's birthday . . . man, it's Tuesday, I better get going . . .
